The brief for this project was to take something old and up-cycle it into a piece of furniture. I chose to use an old oil drum and make it into an arm chair. I chose to 

up-cycle an oil drum because many of them are illegally dumped or sent to the landfill. The aim of my design was to show others that an oil drum can be used for other things, just as an arm chair, as well as creating something that would challenge me. I used timber as the framing structure of my chair, to add strength to my design and also to contrast the shiny tin of the drum. I chose a retro styled design to highlight the ‘oldness’ of the oil drum and the ‘newness’ of the timber.
