One of the greatest challenges to a portrait photographer has always been how to capture the emotions and the feelings of an individual in front of his or her camera. To me, a great portrait almost always makes the viewers feel something. We are human and we feel a lot. My goal is to convey a glimpse of the personality of my subject to my audience. I do so through communication and subtly directing people and make them "forget" they are being photographed.
Growing up I felt awkward and self-conscious to be photographed. After I taught myself photography a few years back, I learned how to work the camera first hand. I, therefore, understand exactly how an actor feels standing in front of me being photographed. No matter how stiff and nervous they may be, I have ways to make them loosen up. That's where the magic really happens.
