[EN] It is 2018, and while our phones continue to get bigger, our jean pockets remain the same. Advances in technology have made us addicted to several features, such as way finding, checking email, or booking a taxi… it has become difficult to do away with our pocket computers. However, some people are not satisfied with the place these devices are taking in their lives, and would be thankful for a more modest, less invasive object. Some manufacturers have thought about reducing the size or excluding certain features, but in doing so they neglect the needs of those who are still interested in a versatile and multifunctional object.

Minima is a concept phone that counts with all the main functionalities of a smartphone, a comfortable screen keyboard, and a pocket-sized body. Its discreet and functional design are the perfect combination for an effective communication tool in 2018.

Minima works with a hybrid OS, a mix between a smartwatch OS (for main features and native apps), and a smartphone OS in order to fit any apps available on the market, thanks to its 18:9 ratio screen.

By transferring all the main functions (“Back”, “Home”, and “Camera”) from the screen to the phone’s sides, the screen becomes less busy and more comfortable. A simple slide button on the side makes it easy to unlock the device, while pressing any of the buttons gives you access to the “Time” (and upon release, the screen goes back to sleep mode). Minima counts with all connectivity features needed to access Wifi or listening to music from a wireless speaker. Finally, it has a thin battery thanks to the smaller screen size, which allows for a low energy consumption.

[FR] En 2018 nos téléphones sont de plus en plus grands alors que la taille de nos poches reste la même. Le progrès nous a rendu accro à certaines fonctionnalités comme regarder son chemin, consulter ses mails, prendre des photos ou réserver un taxi rapidement… Difficile de se passer de nos ordinateurs de poche. Pourtant, certaines personnes ne sont pas satisfaites de la place que prennent ces objets dans nos vies et se contenteraient d'une version plus discrète, moins invasive. Certains fabricants ont donc pensé à miniaturiser ou à brider certaines fonctionnalités de nos smartphones, une démarche qui montre vite ses limites puisqu’elle exclue de fait les utilisateurs qui apprécient la technologie et les objets à usages multiples.

Minima est un concept phone qui contient toutes les fonctionnalités d'un smartphone, disposant d'un clavier tout aussi grand que les autres et qui tient dans la poche. Un moyen efficace de communiquer en 2018, au design aussi discret que fonctionnel.

Il dispose d'un OS hybride, combinaison entre le système d'une smartwatch (pour les fonctions principales et les applications natives) et celui d'un smartphone, pour accepter toutes les applications disponibles sur le marché grâce au ratio 18/9e de l'écran.

En effaçant les contrôles de base de l'écran ('retour', 'écran d'accueil' et 'photographie') et en les plaçant sur la tranche de l'objet, l'écran de Minima apparaît plus confortable. De plus, un simple bouton coulissant permet de déverrouiller le système, alors qu'un simple appui sur n'importe quelle touche permet d'afficher l'heure (fonction que l'on utilise majoritairement). Au relâchement, l'écran redevient noir. Minima dispose de toute la connectivité permettant d'accéder au wifi ou de se connecter à une enceinte sans fil. Sa batterie est également très fine, car la taille de l'écran permet une faible consommation.
