Lady Wonder the Talking Horse

Lady Wonder (1924-1957) was an equine superstar, known for her abilities to operate a giant typewriter. However, she was proported by her owner as being not only intelligent, but psychic. Folks would gather from miles around to pay $1 to ask 3 questions of the mare, listen to her predictions on who would win sporting events, and surmise where oil may be found. Most famously, Lady aided investigators in 1952 in finding a missing child's body. While she was adored, she did gather her fair share of skeptics. Psychologists, animal behaviorists, magicians and psychics studied Lady Wonder, and most agree that many of her actions and answers could be explained away through cues given by her owner, Claudia Fonda, who was ever present at the wonderhorse's side.
