This is a fantastic novel about Eli Wiesel’s true accounts of life in the holocaust. I felt that the original book cover was too calming and did not give the book justice. The book goes into gruesome details and is very ominous. I felt that the book cover needed to reflect that. My focus was on the concept of loss. Loss of personality, family, youth, innocence, and loss of being a human being. The young child on the front cover represent’s Wiesel and as he fades and disappeares like a ghost.
