In 2008 Day Communications was the agency-of-record for Hydro One, responsible for recruitment advertising and H.R. branding. Hydro One is Canada’s largest electricity transmission and distribution service provider, employing a large and diverse work-force. As part of a multi-year branding and recruitment campaign, Day's team conceived of creating a welcome card for new employees, to be placed on their desks, prior to their arrival on their first day of work. The card could be signed by the new employee's managers and coworkers as a friendly welcome and a way for the new employee to learn and remember their new teammates' names.
In my role as Art Director at Day Communications I was tasked with designing the new employee welcome card. In collaboration with the project manager, copy writer, and print producer I designed a piece that is unique and eye-catching while still adhering to the previously established HR branding and complying with all corporate brand standards. The card was well received by the client and appreciated by most new employees.
