An interesting constraint was given to me in designing this sign; we could not remove the existing sign, whatever we did had to incorporate the old sign. The existing sign was two slabs of leftover concrete from when the building was orignially built. The surface was a rough aggregate popular at the time but not great for our needs

After doing these sketches, I learned that we were pushing the limits of our zoning allowances in regards to signage. This meant I was no allowed to build off of our existing sign at all.
