Why does the chosen work represent the best outcome of the options you could have developed?
Based on the sample specification sheets researched, it was clear that the denser the layout and information provided the more useful it is, particularly when being used in the industry. The layout specification for the flats in the design project are to indicate the garment background information and only uses the essential data to be used in the industry.
How does your work compare with professional work you researched?
The flats are presented in a professional understanding that reflects well in the design process. The research of professional standards suggested a in-depth garment proposal would ensure a successful outcome throughout the manufacturing stages. The purpose of a flat specification sheet is for that user, being a manufacturer role, so that they know how to go about using patterns and the correct sewing instructions.
What were the technical constraints and difficulties you encountered?
Understanding what elements were required to create a specification criteria needed for the particular project fashion range. My knowledge with the Adobe software is quite a mature standard so I would definitely agree that this area was a strength.
How could you have improved the process or outcome?
More industry visits to this area of practice would be really beneficial. would benefit with more teaching in this element of the design process as I feel it is just as important as the other stages and more of an understanding of what data is needed to fulfil the desired specification would be appreciated.
