Philip Akkerman – Het Doel Van Het Bestaan Is Het Maken Van Een Zelfportret

Dutch painter Philip Akkerman has been making self-portraits for over 35 years, about over 4000 paintings already. The title of this book means 'The meaning of existence is making a self portrait'. The book shows 175 paintings and 30 drawings, actual size: 34x40 centimetres. So a big book. And heavy: 5 kilograms. The plastic 3D back cover is a holder for a smaller, yellow booklet with fragments from his diaries. This all comes together with an original screen print in a luxurious, sealed box.
