Surrealist Self Narrative Portraiture

Surrealist Self Narrative Portraiture
Self Toxicity  - a representation of holding in emotional pain until it leaves you ill. The face turning to sand and the glass are symbolic of needs that are unable to be met, a voice that cannot speak them.
Choking on Society’s Expectations - a social commentary piece about the continued debate, portrayal, and exploitation of insecurities regarding body shape, in particular by the media.
A Little Bit Prickly - a self reflective piece. It has been my personal experience that those used to criticism tend to be a bit prickly, even when given compliments. I visualised it here as a defence mechanism.
I’m Fine, Thanks For Asking - this piece, a tongue in cheek take on “The Birth of Venus”, is meant as a fun piece but also with an underlying message of the frustrations and flaws of living with chronic illness and pain. This work is unfinished.
