When designing this Type Specimen Book for Univers Next Pro, I researched the time frame when the text debuted in 1957. This was the era of diners and poodle skirts, but the one person that was continuously mentioned when I was researching the 50s was Elvis. I decided to run with that theme and use photography of him through out the book. I wanted the book to be simple and clean while also being exciting, so I went with all black and white to keep it simple and clean but the pictures themselves are very interesting. I decided to use photos and song lyrics from Jailhouse Rock because Univers Next Pro and this song came out in the exact same year and I really liked the way the black and white jail stripes complimented the black and white theme of the book. After designing the book I perfect bound it and used a faded black cover to match the faded old time photos that you see through out the book.  Overall I really love the way this book turned out and how nicely the theme complimented the typeface I was displaying.
