Placholder: Warframe Status Game System

This is a placeholder for my future portfolio. It is not my work but it is something that I will be aiming for when I became a game designer specializing in game systems design.

Warframe is a game that has a unique game system called status effects. Personally, I think this system is very unique as status effects are usually associated with game abilities and are better known as "Stuns", "Slows", "Dazes", etc. However, Warframe instead associates most of the status effects with damage types and attaches it to weapons.
These status effects depend on various damage types which you inflict on enemies. These damage types can come in the form of physical damage, base elementals, and combined elementals.
Combined elementals can be gotten through combining various base elementals in different ways.
All of these status effects associated with the damage type also depends on a game mechanic called status chance. Status chance determines whether you inflict a status effect. However, if you have multiple damage types on a weapon then the game has to calculate which status effect it chooses.
The game does so based on weightage or ratio of each damage type then randomly chooses one based on probability.

I have highlighted the core mechanics but the system is actually far more deep although quite simple. There are more mechanics such as faction bonuses and status effect stacking but the core idea of associating status effects with damage types is what I wanted to highlight.

This is something I will be aiming for; a system that is actually very simple but holds a lot of depth.
