Ashby Solano's profile

CENTRO - Masisa | Advisory of academic projects

This project is the result of the collaboration among students of the 7th semester of the Bachelor in Industrial Design from CENTRO and the Masisa brand, with the mentoring of Professor Ashby Solano Rodríguez.

We seek to find new applications for the specific materials of the brand, having as a theme of inspiration: industrial design objects that include technological components for its operation. Due to its experimental nature, we strive for the designers to be able to solve a problem by the identification and management of alternative forms, materials and processes; by integrating aspects related to the industrialization of products.
Designer: Arlete Haboba Moussali

Today, a part of human beings are surrounded by products that are characterized by having a high technological content [by technology we are referring to digital systems, interactive, intelligent and made with microprocessors and sensors]. The design profession has been influenced, because technology has generated new ways of producing, managing and living (Castells, 1996). New paradigms have been established, new needs and therefore new demands.
Designer: Liza Pessah Kalaanra

The project focused on the solution of problems, needs or desires, using the brand's own materials like a vehicle to develop a desirable, viable and feasible product. As a result of this phase, sketches, 2D graphic representations, 3D modeling, plans, models, digital presentations, image banks of current applications and references in the market and, finally, prototypes of real scale were obtained. All the prototypes were functional and finished with high quality.
Designer:  Valentina Villareal Díaz
Designer: Diana Soto Vega
Designer:  José Lepe Castro

As a result of 16 weeks of work, a collection of 16 industrial design products was obtained. They formally and functionally explored new applications for Masisa brand materials (melamine-coated wooden boards), including technological components for their operation. Due the experimental nature of the project, the designers endeavored to solve a problem by identifying and managing various processes and integrating aspects related to the industrialization of products.
