Growth

This is a personal, experimental project grounded in concepts of stretching and expanding.

The project was strongly driven by the concept of 'growth' - both in terms of procedural particle growth systems and experimentation with organic and self-replicating forms, but also as a challenge in terms of my own skills and development.

As the project developed I wanted to incorporate some 2D graphic and typographic elements to integrate with the 3D animation to tie together the concepts of the piece. The text is rapid, non-linear and fragmented; communicating feelings of self doubt that are sometimes involved in the creative process.

Design Process

I knew that I wanted the piece to be very rhythmic and tightly syncopated. It's a style of editing I really enjoy and when it is dynamic and sharp I think it can be really powerful. I created these short, early edits as experiments with the developing visuals to begin to establish a tone and direction for the project.
