This was private commission of a Black Marlin. The client requested that the piece be done in my line technique drawing only parallel lines (using a ruler) in 3 different sizes to illustrate shape and depth. The final piece was 380 cm x 130 cm. All together it took about 320 hours too draw 6800 lines (give or take). Because of the size I used a light box and a template in order to keep the proportions correct. Afterwards I finished the piece by freehand in order to break the machine like nature of the perfectly straight lines. This was an exercise of mental strength to say the least, but I proved a lot to myself at the end of the project.
The lines are separated by about 1 - 2 mm and broken up strategically to achieve an illustrative effect.
