This is a short Animation that I made with Adobe Illustrator and After Effects. I have never used After Effects before, so it was quite a challenge! Adding to that challenge was the age of my computer which made previewing my animation pretty darn difficult! But lets talk a little bit about how this came to be:
So here are my original sketches, my story board, and some pictures of the tank that inspired this project. At first I was planning on including a school of small fish (Lambchop Rasboras if you were wondering) and a shrimp, but as I started my project time constraints and outdated computers soon forced me to downsize the idea. I decided to focus only on Zeke, the Beta Fish and getting the plants to move correctly. Oh, and yes that is a snake watching the fish tank. She and Zeke seemed to hit it off pretty well actually!
This was my first draft of all of the objects that would be used in the animation. I liked the design of this for the most part, but I chose to change the plant on the left to fit better with the style of Zeke since he was looking so spiffy!
And here is the final product! There are a few mistakes here and there that I wasn't able to catch when I was making it. Just being able to preview anything at all was a miracle, and was usually slow as quan, so a lot of the timing I had to just play by ear. Also the part where Zeke phases through the rock did not show up at all when I was making the animation, so that was a surprise! I am pretty happy with it though. Perhaps later when I have a new computer I will try my hand at some other Animations!
