This concept was submitted to participate in ReThink, a local AIGA exhibition in North Carolina aimed at raising awareness of environmental issues and concerns. Playing off the "local" theme, North Carolina's state bird, the cardinal, is faced with an immediate crisis - dwindling water levels. The idea for the pieces comes from a childhood observation. In summertime, during periods of drought, our backyard birdbath would run dry. When I'd ask my folks if I could fill it up, they would we couldn't spare the water for the birds. I came to associate "drought" with "eerily quiet."
