#metoo

In light of the Trump elections, women’s marches and drawing from the previous artworks I became interested in the #metoo. This hashtag arose in relation to Harvey Weinstein and his sexual misconduct on his male and female employees, where many came forward and exposed their experiences with him. This then lead to a global movement of women coming forward on social media sites like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram where they shared and exposed their experiences of sexual harassment in the work place with the hashtag “#metoo”. This movement has brought awareness to a very much unspoken about issue as well as problems how work places ARE gendered spaces and how women are exploited by unequal pay ,harassment and power relations.

Although this movement set up a united front of people fighting against the patriarchal hegemonic systems that oppress them, it also gave an opportunity for anti-feminists to comment. It is these comments that have inspired me to create my next works.
Q&A .2017.Digital media. Sarah Kieswetter

For these artworks I wanted the format to be a poster in plain black and white with a text, these texts would be in the form of a multiple-choice questions with technically only one answer. All three works comment on experiences that  fall under the hashtag some of which I have experienced myself in  work spaces. For now, I only made 3 posters, yet I feel this could become a series or would that be overkill??
