Engine Service Optimization

This iPad application uses sensor data to generate a maintenance plan tailored to a specific locomotive engine. It provides information on engines at risk and saves maintenance cost for engines with low milage.

I was brought in after the initial product definition and worked with a maintenance expert to detail out the content needed.
Project duration: 10 days
Role: Lead user experience designer
Focus: interaction design, visual design
Contributors: product manager, developer, content expert

The team envisioned displaying the information on cards with header info on the first row and details per component on the second row.
Wireframes
Our goal was to facilitate information scanning while minimizing the need to scroll. We adopted a vertical layout and a list view.
Rendering
Originally we planned on using an upcoming version of a corporate design system, along with custom assets.
We created an alternative version with the available design system in order for the team to be able to deliver more quickly.
Design constraints
A short timeframe for this project did not allow us to validate the designs with end-users prior to implementations and we didn't have visibility into the outcome of this project.
