"Daydreams" Call Me Crazy Dancers, Philly Fringe 2012

The opening was made to look like a nasty subway station.  Love the yucky yellow backlight.
This song kind of portrays a young girl's dreams of being in a big show.  It starts out with a solo dancer in fornt of a picture of a dance studio.  I put her in warm light to contrast with the cool backdrop and make it look like shes bathed in sunlight.
The song transitions to outside of a stage door with the professional dancers about to go into the theater bathed in moonlight
The next song travels inside the theater to a 1920'sesque flapper number in which I tried to recreate vintage stage lighting.
The song "paint the town red" featuring a blue wash with red cyc and red backlight.
A classic tap dance number set in a park.  I used both warm and cool washes to mimic daylight and used a gobo wash to make it appear as if they were outdoors.
A very moving song called "Next to You" shows a happy couple torn apart.  I loved this number because of the effect of the blue wash with the warm gold sidelight.
I added more white light when the other dancers came onstage for this number
A monologue about fear.  I loved the shadows that were cast on her from the single light shining above her.
This number was called "Fear" and involved an acclectic mess of disturbing sound clips from people crying and screaming to soundbites from 9/11.  To match the mood, the lighting was a little random but I made sure to add the green backlight for an erie effect.
"Love is like a Drug/' no not the Ke$ha song!  lol.  In the style of Weimar Cabarets with the chair dancing I had to add the red again but this time more shadows than "Paint the Town Red"
"Hot Tonight" a rock number featuring everyone was kind of an everything but the kitchen sink design creating a rainbow effect onstage.
In keeping with the theme of dreams this number has the dancers prance around as if they were in a dream.  Once again I used warm and cool wash for daylight which matched the backdrop of a mountainside.
The final number "DOn't let the door hit you" Was a high energy jazzy number so I tried to have the lights mimic the energy of the song!
