I run a blog about the TCG Magic: The Gathering, by Wizards of The Coast. In the game you summon creatures and cast spells to reduce your opponent's life to 0. Most of the cards you may play from your hand, however some of them produce "tokens". Those are cards not present in your 60 card deck, however they stay in game for a longer time. Usually the players use dice, coins, pieces of paper to represent those "tokens". As a form of advert for my blog I decided to prepare some cards to be used as tokens for the game that I can hand out and use myself on the tournaments. For series 1, presented here, I decided to use the most popular "token" creatures.

The circle in the background represents the "colour" of the creature. It's important as some of the spells give your creatures "protection from a given colour". The name on the top is the name of the token; the stats in the lower right corner are the token's power and toughness.

I first did sketches in my Moleskine notebook, scanned the pictures, uploaded them to Manga Studio, did all the lineart and colouring there. After export I did printing prep in Photoshop and ordered prints in a local print-shop.

I did the cutting myself with a guillotine and the corner cutter.

All 5 tokens: full series 1. I already started sketching for series 2, that should include a Goblin, a Beast, a Bird, a Monarch's Crown and an Insect:)

At the back side of the cards there is a small ad with the logo and the web-address of my blog. The logo was also designed in a similar way. I started off with some rough sketches:
