team project, individual design
for training purpose, a few students and I had to form a team, a kind of our own small business. the first exercise we had to do was coming up with a name for our company, and a logo. we chose to call our company 'driemaaldrie' (as in 'drie maal drie', which means 'three times three'). you'd say that the answer is 9, but it could be literally anything. ask a child, and they will probably answer anything but 9.
after deciding what our name would be, each individual had to come up with a logo design. I started sketching, and after a while I drew something similar to the Japanese method of multiplying, where you have to draw lines and count how many times lines have crossed in a specific order.
the design with dots only (bottom left) is what I chose to move on with. you can do so much with just dots. I started to make variations of it; some of them are nice, some aren't, but it's just brainstorming.
the designs that stood out the most for me were the last two. since the former was not exactly what I wanted for my final design, I chose to go with the latter. I like the concept of 'less is more', so I took some of the dots out and ended up with the design in the top right corner.
after finishing the logo, I decided to look at the typography and colour, and made some variations on it.
I've also created a business card.
