Bottle opener and corkscrew
A different approach for a corkscrew and bottle opener. Inspired by Zaha Hadid. Keeping it simple with organic lines while still thinking of an ergonomic way of holding. A project I made as student at Howest Industrial Product Design.

Zaha Hadid was one of the most innovative and celebrated architects of our time. Creating transformative, cultural, corporate, residential and other spaces that work in synchronicity with their surroundings. Her style embraces striking lines, sometimes bold with expressive curves. Other times brutalist in essence.

The key was to find the right balans between the heavy shapes and the fluidness of the lines. A small product such as a corkscrew will come over as clumsy when it’s given a heavy shape. Sketching and prototyping appeared to be the best solution to make this project. The shapes that aren’t delivered through a sketch, can be shown with a quick and easy prototype.
