Last Male Standing

From a population of 40,000 Northern White Rhinos, there are only 3 left today. Sudan is the last known male in the world. Since 2009, he has been on 24-hour protection by armed guards in Kenya. Rhinos are targeted by poachers because of how lucrative the market is in Asia, where their horns are believed to cure various ailments.
“Today we are witnessing the extinction of a species that had survived for millions of years but could not survive mankind.”
