Some of my images verge on the metaphysical and are less representational and more abstract.

You may see "eyes" or a "star" or "something other" in this image. For me it was an exercise in creating and for me it has some sky symbolism in it. We were made to be creative, we are made to create.
Mangroves !- pastel on Wallis paper, framed.

Sennelier pastels. I dry mounted my pastel paper onto foam core to create a transportable work surface and hinged to that a reverse mat cut from the same material (foam core). Even if you chose to use fixative on the last layer or during the process, a few flakes will fall with pastels, especially with the softer brands. I chose to stop using fixative after the first 2 layers, that way the final layers are not dulled down.

ECO ART OF THE CAROLINAS THEME born out of inspiration…..
surfaced with my belief in preserving the beauty and health of the environment- the land. My appreciation of the natural beauty in nature was born in my youth when I admired the mists rising off of the Appalachians and the Blue Ridge and grew from my travels.  I am drawn to paint various landscapes, marshscapes, seascapes often of wild lands and often including water imagery.  My primary subject matter interest began with the ecosystems that represent change between the land and sea, including marsh environments and mangrove forests.  I hope via my website to promote awareness of the dynamics that thrive in these fragile ecosystems.

This painting-a-day-exercise came out of my head. It is both turbulent and full of energy. I hope you enjoy the sunset appearing and storm rolling out effect.
I used assorted pastels on Canson
12″ x 15 7/8″
Background Ambience: I listened to these “sunset” songs as I frequently put together a "song-set" to "paint to." Here is my songset, some songs are not available at this time.  Songs with “sunset," "clouds" or "sky' in the title are hard to find, especially songs that are free too, so I improvised with songs that reminded me of nature, a journey or just appealed to be because of the happy beat.

This work was about creating blue sky and a glowing light or sunset. I wanted to reveal a warm glow and the emotion you feel when you see a beautiful sunset.
