No Strings Attached. Untethered Headset.
BUSINESS:
Project Alloy is a VR headset packed with tech sensors that track the environment. Scene understanding, object recognition, person tracking, hand gestures - absolutely everything was there. Above all that, the device was also a super computer capable of running powerful calculations and run hardcore games. The device was 100% independent, with battery and no other external sensors were needed for it to operate. Our game studio was requested to create an experience to showcase its capabilities.
Playing Inside a Real Physical Environment. The Virtual One Matches It.
DESIGN:
VRoom created several new innovations in the gameplay until its time. First of all it shows multiplayer capabilities between two VR users. One of the devices was the host and the other joined the invitation. They shared the position with each other. In order for this to work, the two devices needed to "understand" they stay in the same environment. We used the scene understanding and some tracking technics to do that.
Then we can speak about the mixed reality features. The players stand in a real environment with real objects (sofa, coffee table). These elements are being tracked and then replaced by the algorithm with a virtual game object in a similar size. This is something that still doesn't exist with any other device in the market.

This is a product of Intel Corporation. Headset was called Alloy, but was canceled a year later. The game produced by RealSense Studio in Intel Israel.
