Re-illustration of Monumental Rome
This series of illustration is based on Piranesi’s engravings of Rome. His original etching drawings depicts an ancient Rome that hybrids some of the real context with his own imagination. The gigantic column or obelisk in the middle of streets and squares conveys great visual impact.
Through texturing and coloring these monuments, I started focusing on the development of these exaggerated objects into a continuous spatial experience. The last image displace the exterior experience of allée to an interior experience inside a church by replacing the dome of church with tree canopies.
