A Water Bottle Commercial
Here are my storyboards for a commercial that I had to do for a school project. Designing the storyboard was interesting, fun, and challenging. The most challenging and fun part about creating the storyboard was coming up with ideas for what I wanted and how I wanted the commercial to look like on video. I went through a number of ideas before finally settling on a water bottle commercial.
The entire project was shot with an iPhone. After I had captured all of the footage, I imported it into Final Cut Pro X. I viewed and selected all of the shots I wanted to use for my commercial and edited the scenes to make the commercial intriguing. I had never used Final Cut Pro X before, let alone a Mac, so it was a challenge for me to learn the software and hardware.
To give this scene (above screenshot) a breath of life and a sense of realism, I added a sound effect to enhance the reality that the audience was right there with me as I was looking through the stack of papers.
In the above screenshot, I added transitions and effects to give this scene a "dream-like" feel. The tough part about this scene was the fact that I had to edit the clips to fit within the total duration of the commercial. Next, I had to choose a song that had to match the theme of the scene. Then, I edited and timed the song so that it was in sync with the video and helped establish he next scene.
Later, after previewing the rough cut, I tweaked the project even further. By color grading and monitoring the audio levels for peaks. On some of the clips, the audio had to be adjusted with a balance between loudness and quietness. During playback, there were instances of background noise, which were corrected so that the noise was no longer audible.
Ultimately, I enjoyed being the talent and I had even more fun editing the commercial. It was a blast to learn both Final Cut Pro X and the Mac.
