POETRY SLAM, ENCOMIUM'18
“Poetry is a language at its most distilled and most powerful form.”
Speak Up! Poetry Slam was held by ENCOMIUM 2018, which is the techno-cultural fest of the IEEE, Jamia Millia Islamia.The theme for the poetry slam was ‘Izhar-e-rai’, it exactly fits for everyone who was looking around for a platform to share their views.
There were about total 19 participants, each one willing to bring their inner wordsworth out on this platform by reciting their poems either in Hindi, or English within 4 minutes.
The judges were Adnan Bismillah, someone who has been known for his temperament, his passion towards his art and his uncertainty of being infamous with people and Dr Satya Prakash who’s an assistant professor in the Dept of Applied Science, Jamia.
The winners of the poetry slam were Kainat Muzaffar in the English category and Alok Suman in the Hindi category.
Alok Suman recited his poem which was based on a chapter in the class 12th textbook Flamingo, Lost Spring by Anees Jung. He was inspired by the theme of Firozabad, a place of bangle makers
