Tredworth Community Project

Currently struggling Tredworth area situated on the south edge of the Gloucester city center, is one of the lower aesthetic quality spaces with significant levels of pollution, low levels of maintenance (concerns public spaces/streets/pathways) and in general have lacking city council investment. Despite all of those, area is known for its considerable community interaction and relationships. With great variety of nationalities and religions Tredworth is the richest mixed culture zone in Gloucester. Our project brief was short and open to creativity with only requirements to engage with community through a reasonably landscape architecture orientated solutions (public parks/pocket parks/high street design/sculpture/community website/or any other format allowing to improve the current situation through a design based approach orientated to the locals)
As a part of our creative process we had few meeting with the local representatives who were kind enough to express their perspective concerning issues and potential solutions for the site. My response to the project was a relatively temporary intervention which supposedly were to change community perception of the site through a high quality of aesthetic proposals (installations/murals/sculptures/street art)  collectively forming an informal public art gallery. Overall rather than applying a top-down approach, I presented a proposal which would allow to engage with locals, receive their opinions and ideas through a creative and interactive process before suggesting a permanent solution which would have higher chances to include multiple aspects relevant to the locals. Thus resulting in a bottom-up solution which would begin by encouraging locals to proactively express their interest in the regeneration of the site as well as necessity to address the issues which prevents the site from becoming a safe, friendly, aesthetically pleasing place to live and work
Following images are my proposal document leading you through a secondary brief analysis of the site, creative process and the solution itself with a phase plan and visuals
