For people who have opentype-enabled software: Alternate can be accessed by activating the 'Stylistic Alternate' and 'Ligatures' buttons on the Photoshop Character panel, or through any software with glyphs panels, eg. Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop CC, Inkscape.
