TYPOGRAPHIC AND LAYOUT DESIGN: TYPE POSTER
The brief for this project was to create a poster celebrating a famous person (live or dead)  which uses type as a prominent feature. I chose one of my favourite musicians - the legendary Nina Simone- and created a poster advertising a fictional exhibition exploring her life through the many portraits that were taken of her.

I selected one of her most powerful songs- Mississippi Goddam. Released in 1964, Simone described it as her first civil rights anthem. The text is used behind Simone in all three compositions. I have chosen black and white images because I think it works well with the text. It also fits nicely with the National Portrait Gallery brand  (the location for my fictional event!) with its clean and modern feel.
