A Different Side of New York
See New York City is my BFA senior thesis exhibition project.  I chose to make my own version of WPA inspired travel posters and postcards. There are eight 18x24 posters and 200 postcards printed for the show.
The WPA (Works Progress Administration) had a division called the Federal Art Project.  Between 1935 and 1943 the Federal Art Project printed over two million posters in 35,000 different designs to stir the public’s imagination for education, theater, health, safety, and travel.
I wanted to honor my favorite design style by creating my own version of travel posters and postcards.  I chose to highlight places and spaces in New York City that became intimate and important to me while living there for a summer.  I wanted to convey these places through color, imagery, and my own photography while keeping a strong WPA design style.
