A space grasped by the body is sensual. “While peripheral vision integrates us with the space, focused vision pushes us out of the space and makes us a mere spectator. I lend my feelings and associations to space, and space lends me its aura, which seduces and liberates my perceptions and thoughts” (The Eyes of the Skin by Juhani Pallasmaa). The work named Column includes a relational connection, different from the column that contains a verticality between two planes and the carrier that does not fulfill its function in spatial terms. Column, standing in the space, is surrounded by its own environment, the floor it carries and the floor it steps on. The spaces of the Column are the theme of a kind of peripheral vision. The cavities of this enclosure, which can be read as a spiritual theme, is the case of Column creating its own space.
