It's been long since I took up a personal project. There was a time I used to make fanart aplenty and let's just say, there was a dire scarcity of inspirations recently. Thanks to Makeba by Jain, that issue was resolved. It was time to open Illustrator and try and see whether my rusty vector skills still holds up.
Below is the final output. Blended the vector art with some Photoshop and voila.
While this is fan art inspired from Makeba, I also took references from Jain's 'Come' which is equally orgasmic to the ears/eyes. Was not too happy with shading on Illustrator so I pulled it on to Photoshop for some more shading (a la Signalnoise).
Thanks to Jain and her team for coming up with one of my most looped songs from 2017/2018 (so far). An artfully brilliant music video becomes the cherry on top.
