Context
In 2030, according to the OMS, diabetes will be the 7th leading cause
of death. Only in Mexico, 38 cases of diabetes are diagnosed every hour,
and each two hours 5 patients die.
Diabetes, representing one of the main threats to human health
worldwide, was selected as a case study.

Through the interviews applied to users suffering from Type 1 Diabetes,
we obtained alarming data.

01. For users, self-monitoring their glucose levels have started to become
annoying and tedious, which lead them to stop their frequent check up.
02. It was shameful for them to carry their health care instruments in their
       everyday lives.
03.  They didn’t have a control of their diet or a carbohydrate counting.
04.  They didn’t have an exact insulin calculation.

Taking into account our discoveries, we focused on “ Increasing the user’s
awareness of their medical self-care by facilitating the process and
improving the usability - medical instruments and the user.”

Reloaded rises:
For young people between 18 and 28 years old, diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes,
Reloaded is a self-treatment kit. Ideal for users who spend most of their time
away from home, Reloaded facilitates the transportation of the necessary tools
for self-monitoring and control.
Conventional kits only consider glucose-measuring instruments, while our
concept integrates all that and more into a single piece, optimizing space and
applying insulating materials to keep the insulin in optimal conditions.
