ZATHURA: An Space Adventure
Alternative Movie Poster by Larissa Souza
This was an academic work, in Art Direction studies; oriented by Augusto Gottsfritz.
I chose this movie because it's part of my childhood and I'm connected with sci-fi genre. Above, here are the moodboard, that helped me with creative process.
MOODBOARD FROM THE FILM:
All the references from space I extracted from the movie, specially the game. The cards, the key, the board. From these elements, I could choose the palette and the style (from comic books in typography). Some spaceships and astronauts also appear like important figures from this Universe. At the very beggining, I'd like to make an illustration in the poster (New Retro Wave style), but time was running and the minimalist version was possible, thanks to my sketches.
So, after choosing the best idea, I used the reference to the board game to make the poster. We can see it from above, and this way that take the characters to the end of the game makes a "Z" format in thin lines. In the end, the last circle represents a signal from space, a galaxy, also evident in the background with the title. The use of red, yellow and black on typography was on purposal to make something instable, tridimensional.
The poster has a grain texture in each circle, and also in the board. The game was "folded" because of it's marks. And this is it :)
This is it!
