MMAP (Man Makes a Picture) is a film production company that has been operating in Woodstock, Cape Town since 2008.
Providing a unique service to the industry, covering everything from pre-production, production, and post-production, all under one roof, centralizing the product from concept to execution to delivery.

We were tasked to conceptualize and design their logo animatic (which included redesigning their existing logo), before the launch of their latest film. We started by dissecting their name ‘Man makes a Picture’ to identify the essence of what the company is really about - storytelling. Working back to the beginning of visual storytelling we found interesting (and beautiful) methods ranging from shadow puppetry to zoetropes.

We took this inspiration and created our own, unique logo zoetrope which tells a story: 'the spark of an idea combined with one’s imagination leads to the simplest form of creating entertainment.' This became a literal visual translation of what their name stands for - Man makes a picture.
