THE CLIENT:

Speed. Performance. Asphalt.

350SMAC is a New England based super-modified racing division with a focus on fast cars and unique drivers.

I was responsible for creating a website to act as a hub for new drivers and fans alike with e-registration, downloadable documents, news, and track events.

To give the club a feeling of excitement, great effort was put into creating a motion video hero to greet visitors with an instant blast of speed and action from live racing footage taken inside and outside a super-modified cockpit.

Final Cut Pro was used to carefully stitch together the drivers "taking the green" and crossing the finish, showing some of the best the series has to offer all in under 13 seconds. The result is an amazing introduction to the action-packed and fast-paced world of Super Modified racing that static images alone could never achieve.

In addition to videography, custom graphics and icons help solidify the feel of grit and cold-steel that these high-performance machines bring to the steal palace.
GOALS:

One of the most important goals the site had to achieve was to make new driver registration as easy as possible. A focus was placed on allowing e-registration, and easy access to important documents.

The site also needed to be exiting. As a sports club / sporting event, standing out from other divisions and keeping fans interested is a necessity.

And because mobile is no longer an option but expected by users, responsive design would ensure a pleasant experience on any device.
GRAPHIC DESIGN:

I used a combination of Affinity Designer & Affinity Photo to create custom buttons and effects. The driver pictured above was enhanced using Affinity Photo's awesome tone-mapping engine, which greatly exaggerated the colors making them "pop".

Layering images played a key role in getting the level of grit just right.

Let's show off that American pride!
Final Cut Pro was used to create a hero video with rapid highlights for added excitement. I chose night shots to show off the reflection of chrome and sparks metal contacting pavement.
