Reforestion Campaign

Tabi3 Bee2ee is an environmental awareness campaign in the form of a series of planting kits aimed at encouraging school children based in Lebanon to take part in reforestation efforts.

Playing on the idea of mail, the planting kits take the form of envelopes including the seed and instructions for planting each tree. Each envelope itself turns into the pot the seed is to be potted in and further planted in the ground (where the material of the envelope would eventually biodegrade).

The envelopes are proposed to be distributed at schools in a wooden mailbox that serves as a holder for the envelopes on one side and a bird feeder on the other.

The word "Tabi3" is an arabic word for stamp and may also mean a trait someone may have while "Bee2ee" is the arabic word for environmental.

_____

How the kit works:

- When the envelope is opened, the inside contains the seed, instructions on preparing the seed, preparing the pot and planting, a ruler and a "tree tag" (that can be cutt out and used).

-The back side presents a calender that the user would refer to in counting down the days before planting the tree in the ground.

-When put together  information on the specific tree (and others in the series) is shown in a playful infographic. This information includes the locations where the trees exist and at what elevations they can potentially
grow in.

>> This was my final year project at A.U.B. during which my advisor for the thesis paper was Daniel Drennan and my advisor for the implementation of the project was Hatem Imam
>> A special thanks also goes to "IBSAR" - Nature Conservation Center for Sustainable Futures at A.U.B. for their extensive help in providing useful information and feedback. (http://www.aub.edu.lb/units/natureconservation/Pages/index.aspx)
>> The name of this project being "Tabi3 Bee2ee" was suggested by Izzat Kreidieh
>> All the images used in the kits are images taken by me except for the images of the actual trees located on the outside of the envelope. These have been taken from Google image search and all rights are reserved for their owners.
>> The calligraphy found on each stamp indicating the type of tree was done by Mahmoud Baayoon.
>> The calligraphy on each stamp that says "Lebanon" has been taken from the seemingly standard type used in Lebanese stamps.
>> The two Arabic fonts used throughout the project are "AXt Calligraph" by Halim Sakr
and "GE SS TV Bold" by Boutros International.
