NBA 2K18 - MYTEAM BRANDING
MINNEAPOLIS D-FENDERZ
For my team I chose to represent the great state of Minnesota, specifically Minneapolis. Throwing it back to the Lakers era in Minneapolis and the "MPLS" jerseys. Below is a few quick spreads of some of the things I designed for the game.
Team Primary Logo - Inspired by the city of lakes and who else better to represent water than Poseidon himself. I felt it also gave the team a unique look that went well with the nickname "D-Fenderz". An aggressive enough mascot to still be respected at a pro level.
Trident Alt Logo - Poseidons trident with the iconic "MPLS". Here you can see the hint of orange that was added. It is only used on the jewels of his trident and cuffs. The primary colors were inspired from the Minneapolis Lakers sky blue and yellow, I just modernized them.
Home/Away Jersey Design - Here again I used the "MPLS" across the chest of the away jersey. I tested out a couple sky blue jerseys like the original Lakers, but the yellow just looked more athletic and masculine. The trapezoids on the side inserts represents the different depths of water and correlate with steps in an season.
Light Blue (Top Level) - relaxing, having fun, things are fresh and new.
Medium Blue (Middle) - your sinking, tired, running low on energy.
Navy Blue (Bottom) - pressure, things are tight, dark, light at the end of the tunnel.
Flip Saunders Court at 3M Arena - Who better to name a court after in Minnesota than Flip, the legend. And to go along with greatness, 3M would have the naming rights to the arena that would be built where the Armory is now.
Yes I know, this guy must have a lot time on his hands. Or I have no life to go through all this effort for a game. But this didn't take me long at all, and this is what I love to do. Always chase your dreams and do what you love.
