The ISTD Student Assessment Scheme reached a milestone in 2015 by turning 40. The brief was to choose a subject associated with milestones. Subject matter as well as a target market around the topic had to be created.
Sleep has an element of progression, reaching “milestones”with every subsequent stage of sleep. A sleep clinic was the identified market. The intended audience and delivery of the content was aimed at persons suffering from sleeping disorders. Posters, information booklets and a wall chart were created to depict the different conditions.
The visual style played on the idea of the the state of“unconciousness”. The use of grids in the designs simulate medical records. The typography is used in such a way that it creates a ‘glitch’; a sudden temporary malfunction.
