I was recently commissioned by Champaign-Urbana Adventures in Time and Space (C.A.T.S.) to produce three awesome large-format window posters for their Escape Room. See below for my process.

I started thumbnailing ways to use Champaign-Urbana landmarks in some kind of end-of-the-world or retro way. We started steering towards old pulp magazine covers.

We narrowed down the locations to the Art Theater, UIUC Quad, and the Urbana Market on the Square.

Detail view. I really liked the balance between minimalism and vague detail I achieved with the orange Asian restaurant. It’s something I’ve been trying to do for a while, and it will guide a portion of my future projects.
