(System Design)SMART BIN- WASTE MANAGEMENT

Through this project, nuances of Post- colonial and De-colonial design are tried to be understood and applied to solve the problem of waste management on a given chosen scale.
DESIGN BRIEF
UNDERSTANDING WASTE MANAGEMENT OF SRISHTI COLLEGE
                                                         SCENARIO
Household do not take the ownership of waste management and give away the responsibility to the waste collectors who are also not motivated enough to perform the segregation. Both the stakeholders do not realize their responsibility of waste management. This is somewhere as the practice of waste management, power of decisions and rules and laws are all colonized. There is certainly a need to decolonize the ‘mind-sets’ and the responsibilities and control and the culture of waste pickers being ‘inferior’. The status and role of waste management needs to be a collective responsibility and should not be viewed as a task to be performed by culturally backward sect of the
society.
                                                                        SOLUTION 1
                                                               LIMITATION
The problem with this proposed solution was that the control is still being exercised by BBMP and the practice of persuasive design doesn’t motivate the people to practice a proposed system as they don’t realize the need to actually practice the proposed system.
                                                                 SOLUTION 2
                                             LEARNING FROM OTHER FIELDS
