( The mother - in - law & The daughter - in - law )
Following Vietnamese tradition, young men continue to live with their parents after getting married. This sets the relationship between the mother-in-law and the daughter-in-law at variance. The variance has become an interesting theme for both traditional art and modern entertainment products in Vietnam.
As a Vietnamese artist, I find it funny to act out this theme on paper. It’s simply a past scene with the mother in law, the daughter in law and the husband – the son with mixed expressions of love and jealousy.
The MOTHER – IN – LAW
A typical old woman of the last generation who sees her son as a precious thing which no longer belongs to only her
The DAUGHER – IN – LAW
Young, sweet and self-confident because of having her husband’s full love
The HUSBAND – The SON
Sadly, he is carefree
