A different alphabet book
My Book Arts class required small weekly assignments to practice structures and comping skills. With the objective to create an alphabet book, my imagination quickly went past the “A is for Apple” idea and toyed with communication as a whole. A believer that the truth requires few words, I am constantly struck with how people use them as fluff to disguise what they really mean. I created a cut-to-the-chase alphabet, or a Beta-Bet, to translate when communication becomes too roundabout. The Alphabet naturally took the structure of pen and ink calligraphy while the Beta-Bet became blocky, 1980’s computer type letterforms.
