“Condorito, The Movie” is a 3D Animated feature-length film released in October 2017, based on a very popular character from a Latin American comic strip.
As a member of the Animation team, I was in charge of animating several shots featuring diverse characters including the main cast, from blocking to finishing details. Since we were working with pre-existing characters with a style and tone established throughout decades, we were faced with the challenge of creating a visual identity that felt fresh but at the same time honored the source material. Also, the jump from a 2D graphic media to an audiovisual one is always a tricky one, so we relied a lot on character poses, profiles, and facial expressions that were recurrent in the comics in order to make them look familiar and appealing.
