Louda Larrain: "I love labor intensive hand work, hours and hours, days and days of stuffing, beading, embroidering. I never plan for a final look and always start with only a vague notion of what kind of object I want to create and what kind of story I want to tell by it. I go stitch after stitch, pearl after pearl in total enjoyment of the long process until I am perfectly happy with the sculpture in my hands. I might not love it any more months later but at the final stage of the creation process I am in love. And the object carries this love, it is charged with the energy I put in it. Once in a while I go back to it, hold it in my hands just to feel this energy and, this time, recharge myself.

Why Teddy bears? Don't we all have a special emotional attachment to these comforting, soft little friends we had back in those happy innocent days of our childhood? Is it not fun to turn them into precious jewel sculptures for adults? I believe it is."
