[Branding] WASHI

WASHI is the name of a Japanese paper, it is made using fibres from the inner bard of the tree. People use washi paper for origami since its is more durable. But for our company WASHI is not just a Japanese origami paper, it is a name for our mascot, his story stands for the passion for this tradition art, and his personality is our brand value.
“The Tale of Sadako Sasaki” is about a the story of a girl, Sasaki, after the World War II. She had leukaemia due to atomic bomb radiations. There is a old legend saying “the one who creates a thousand origami cranes will earn one wish.” Therefore, Sasaki folded as many cranes to try to get well. Unfortunately, she knew she wasn’t able to make it. So she decided to use those cranes to wish for world peace. I grew up listening to this story, and I learnt that origami was a form of blessing.
