Scenographic Experience

Designing a scenographic experience based on a play -
"Rhinoceros" by Eugene Ionesco.
Rhinoceros is a play based on a city where everyone starts turning into a Rhinoceros. It is a paradox on the modern life where everyone blindly follows anything and everything based on class division without any logic and the one that tries to rebel is perceived mad.
Our interpretation of the play is based on the city - AHMADABAD.
It features the issues and problems of the city and the peoples views on it.

We based the scene around issues surrounding Ahmadabad and tried to relate them to the original play. We give a context and a background to the audience entering. They relate to it and experience it in their own way. Further ahead we ask them to make a choice as we so often just choose not to take a side and be bystanders to such issues. We force the audience to make a decision and come into a courtroom. The courtroom is staged with the issues personified as jurors, who are here for the verdict. The judge is a screen that plays the truth of the city. A video we recorded while asking people around what they thought of the city and its issues. It projects the truth as a judge should and the audience is now made to see the truth and are dared to live with them and the choice they made before they entered the courtroom.
The scene is to make the audience reflect and think if they just follow everyone and not care about the issues of their city or the role they want to play.
SET PRODUCTION
FINAL EXPERIENCE
The role you play as a character builds to the journey in the city. You either form an opinion, judge the many other characters or like many just voice it out and do nothing. It is upto you whether you simply follow others or be who you are. It is you who shapes the city.
Everyone is given a hypothetical character at the beginning of the journey to see the city as someone different.
